AP - PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) - A man trying to break up a fight was wounded when gunfire erupted during a New Year's Eve gathering at a central Oregon restaurant. Prineville Police Chief Dale Cummins says 38-year-old Nicholas Ricks of Bend suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the early Monday shooting at the Crossroads BBQ Pit & Pub in downtown Prineville. KTVZ-TV reports that Ricks was taken to a local hospital in critical condition Monday. Authorities arrested 26-year-old Omar Araim of Prineville. He was found walking just north of the restaurant. A handgun was recovered nearby. Araim is in Crook County Jail on attempted murder, assault and other charges. He is expected to make an initial court appearance Tuesday.
