NBC News - A week after Hurricane Maria trampled Puerto Rico, leaving the island without power, food or water, and with dwindling options, a return to normalcy is nowhere in sight. Some estimates suggest that it could take four to six months for power to be completely restored. We asked a researcher at the Electric Power Research Institute, what it would take to get the lights back on in Puerto Rico and what that means for the future of electric power systems.
